5 Hand Wash Techniques You Need to Know to Keep Your Hands Clean and Germ-Free

Hand washing is one of the most critical daily tasks we all undertake to prevent the spread of diseases and infections. The current global pandemic has shed light on the importance of proper hand hygiene and its role in maintaining overall public health. But how exactly should we be washing our hands to ensure that we are keeping ourselves and others safe? This blog will explore 5 techniques you need to know to keep your hands clean and germ-free. Now, more than ever, it is essential to practice good hand hygiene to keep ourselves and others safe. Washing your hands frequently and properly is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of illness-causing germs. But, how do you know if you're doing it right? Here are five hand wash techniques that you need to know to keep your hands clean and germ-free.

Wet your hands with warm water and apply soap

Washing your hands frequently has always been a good practice especially during flu or cold seasons. Nowadays, with the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become an even more important aspect of our daily routines to maintain proper hygiene and prevent the spread of the virus. Washing your hands with warm water and applying soap is one of the most effective ways to eliminate germs off your hands. In this blog post, we will discuss the advantages of using warm water and soap. First and foremost, warm water is known to be more effective than cold water for washing your hands thoroughly. Warm water helps to open up the pores on your skin, allowing the soap to penetrate deeper, which helps to eliminate germs and bacteria. It is important to note that the water shouldn't be too hot or too cold, but rather at a moderate temperature which is comfortable for you to use.

5 Hand Wash Techniques You Need to Know to Keep Your Hands Clean and Germ-Free

Rub your hands together for at least 20 seconds

With the global threat of corona virus, we’ve been hearing a lot about washing our hands properly. One of the key instructions we’ve been given is to rub our hands together for at least 20 seconds. But have you ever wondered why it’s so important to do that?  We’ll explore the reasons why rubbing your hands together for at least 20 seconds is important, and why you should make it a habit even when the pandemic is over. By rubbing your hands together for a full 20 seconds, you are giving yourself enough time to make sure you cover all areas of your hands, including the tips of your fingers, the back of your hands, and the areas between your fingers. This is important because germs can hide in those areas, and if you don’t wash them properly, you could still be at risk of infection.

      Rinse your hands thoroughly

Rinsing your hands with water helps to remove any remaining germs that may be present after washing with soap. In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), rinsing your hands for at least 20 seconds with warm water is effective in removing germs and other harmful substances. Be sure to pay extra attention to the areas between your fingers and under your nails, as these areas can harbor germs. Once you've lathered up, rinse your hands thoroughly under warm running water. Keep rubbing your hands together to ensure that all of the soap is removed, leaving your hands feeling clean and refreshed.

      Dry your hands properly

Washing your hands often is an important step in preventing the spread of infections and illnesses. However, many people don’t realize the importance of drying your hands properly after washing them. In fact, if you don’t dry your hands properly, you may be inviting bacteria to grow on your hands and potentially spread infections. In this blog post, we’ll discuss the importance of drying your hands correctly and how to do it effectively. After washing your hands, water droplets remain on your skin. Without drying your hands properly, these droplets can become a breeding ground for bacteria and germs. The moisture on your skin is the perfect environment for these microscopic organisms to thrive. Thick towels are more effective in removing moisture from your hand than paper towels.

Use hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available

Hand sanitizer can be a vital tool in preventing the spread of germs and viruses like the common cold, flu, and COVID-19. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends using hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol to reduce the risk of infection. Using it can help keep you and others safe, especially in high-traffic areas like public transportation, schools, and hospitals. Hand sanitizers come in different types and forms. You can find it in gel, foam, or liquid form. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are the most effective, as they can kill up to 99.9% of germs within seconds. Some non-alcohol-based hand sanitizers contain ingredients like benzalkonium chloride, which can also be effective against germs but may not be as potent as alcohol-based ones.
